Every eighteen months, CCN members, friends and supporters come together for a weekend of networking, knowledge-sharing and strategic discussions. The CCN Gathering is a highlight of our calendar, and a chance to connect with other coastal community groups from across Scotland.
The first CCN Gathering sparked the formation of CCN. It was a resounding success, and members agreed to continue this invaluable forum. Since then, Fauna & Flora has been an essential partner, providing funding and organising support for the CCN gathering as part of their marine community support work in Scotland.
The next event took place in May 2018 and aimed to build on the success of the previous workshop. A core focus of the event was around how the development and function of CCN. The main goal was for groups to identify shared issues and priorities, on which they could work together or support one another.
Gatherings were previously held in Gartmore House in Stirling. Our most recent gathering, in October 2023 took place by the coast on the Isle of Cumbrae.
The focus of our 2023 gathering was on skill-sharing, where members and friends of CCN delivered workshops on their areas of interest. From using drones to monitor marine litter, to rocky shore surveys, to engaging communities through cultural heritage, the weekend was full of sharing experiences and lessons.
Our next CCN Gathering will be in Spring of 2026!
