Learning Exchanges

One of CCN’s key aims is to better connect coastal communities across Scotland to share the extensive knowledge and expertise that exists amongst members.

One way in which CCN supports this is through community learning exchanges, where a CCN member group is hosted by another group for a few days.  The host group has a chance to show off their local area and some of the key aspects of their work, and both groups share the similarities and differences between their communities.  Visitors often have specific topics that they want to know more about, such as stakeholder engagement, marine monitoring, fundraising or utilising new technologies.

As well as mutual learning, the exchanges are a great chance to strengthen relationships between CCN members.

“We had a very positive experience last year when we carried out a community learning exchange! The exchange allowed us and the other group involved to share intangible information and insight as to what works best for us across various areas of our work: education and outreach, campaigns and communications and research and participatory monitoring.”
