Carna Coast and Communities

We are a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO), founded in 2025 to protect and regenerate the rich biodiversity of the Isle of Carna and the surrounding land, coasts, and waters of Loch Sunart, Loch Teacuis, and Loch Drom Bhuidhe.

By linking marine and terrestrial conservation, we encourage people to see the landscape as a whole and bring together diverse conservation groups working for a more sustainable future.

Working closely with local communities, schools, industries, and employers, we explore nature-friendly opportunities for young people and help develop skills that support both our local community and the environment.

To inspire the next generation, we are creating the Hope Week year long Programme—Nature Works Here cumulating in a week long immersive experience for young people to discover local employment opportunities, gain new skills, and foster lifelong connections with the natural world both marine and terrestrial.
