Scotland’s very first seaweed festival!

From September 6th – 12th 2021, Isle Martin Seaweed Festival is celebrating all that is special about seaweed from this amazing part of the world.

Festival events will have an ecological and art flavour, with activities designed to appeal to local residents and visitors alike, and will be linking in with national seaweed initiatives such as Natural History Museum & Marine Conservation Society’s Big Seaweed Search

The week’s activities start with seaweed identification walks on three shoreside beaches, then seaweed observation and creative activities along Ullapool’s shoreline and in the harbour pier tent. There will also be a brilliant Seaweed Art Exhibition in the Gallery Windows of An Talla Solais. This all culminates in a special seaweed film night on Friday at the Ullapool Ferry Terminal.

The weekend sees the action move onto the Island itself with a mix of fascinating science and art-themed activities. For those taking part online, live webinars will feature on both Saturday and Sunday, linking to a selection of each day’s activities.
