South Skye Seas Initiative (SSSi)
Eileen moved to Skye in 2004 and over the years has been actively involved in community volunteering activities although is now focusing on the marine environment.

Recognising the need to gather benthic data following unsuccessful planning applications for four open-net fish farms in the South Skye sea lochs, has been part of the South Skye Sea Initiative team carrying out underwater surveys with their remotely operated vehicle, Blue Rov2. The discovery of previously unrecorded seagrass meadows has been a success and will be continuing to identify PMF’s as part of Nature Scot’s Community Monitoring Project.

Eileen is also a Trustee with Skye and Lochalsh Environment Forum and is keen to engage with the wider community in all things environmental.
