Dressler

Small Isles Community Council
Based on the Isle of Eigg, Camille Dressler acts at local and national level through chairing the Small Isles Community Council and the Scottish Islands Federation. From her time on the Isle of Eigg Heritage Trust board, she has seen the results of the Eigg marine environment surveys showing areas of complete desertification around the island, which alerted her to the damage done by irresponsible trawling.

With the help of Dr Richard Luxmoore of NTS, she has worked to ensure the Small Isles should be designated as an MPA. She also contributed to the successful campaign against seaweed harvesting and another giant salmon fish farm in the Small Isles.

Presently, through the Scottish Islands Federation, she is working with a newly set-up working group on Marine Plastic to identify solutions to deal with the volume of marine plastics washed up on the Scottish Islands' shores. Membership of the SIF Marine Plastic working group is open to all Scottish Islands beach cleaning groups.
